The board of directors of Salem Electric invites
interested members to speak before the board. Sam Goesch, representing the
Keizer Chamber of Commerce, approached the board with a request for a donation
for an economic development survey of Keizer residents.
The three utilities serving the Keizer area,
Salem Electric, PGE, and Northwest Natural Gas, had been asked to assist with
funding the survey. During discussion, a donation statement approved by the
board in 1993 was reviewed, which gave criteria for dealing with such requests.
A motion was made and passed to honor the Keizer request with director Wolf
voting in opposition.
During the conservation report, Engineering
and Operations Manager Roger Kuhlman apprised the board of the department's
follow-up procedure regarding a customer complaint received in September. The
member, who was participating in the weatherization program, was satisfied with
the explanation of the installation procedure and cost guidelines of Salem
Electric's current program.
General Manager Jere Overs read a director
education statement developed by the board in March of 1996 which requested
that staff provide a summary of board members' participation in outside
training activities each year. Director Koho suggested that staff include this
topic on the January board meeting agenda so that the board can consider
whether there is a need to keep the policy in effect.
Staff presented the board with a revised
rate schedule which included an average rate reduction of 4.4% for all
customers. A motion was made and passed unanimously to adopt the revised rate
schedule as presented, effective January 1, 1997.
The board voted unanimously to adopt the
1997 budget as proposed.
The meeting adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
