The board of directors of Salem Electric met on
December 16, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. and all board members were present.
Conservation Report
Member Services Manager, Terry Kelly reported that
Salem Electric had received an award for its recycling efforts and will be
recognized in the Statesman Journal newspaper, the Marion County Waste Matters
newsletter, and at a future Marion County Commissioners Meeting.
Manager's Report
General Manager, Bob Speckman requested that the
December 1998 board meeting be moved from 12/22 to 12/15. A motion
carried unanimously to move the December meeting.
Speckman informed the board that the Oregon Rural
Electric Cooperative Association recognized Bryan Johnston with the Co-operator
of the Year award in appreciation for his support during the legislative
session. Since Mr. Johnston was unable to accept his award at the ORECA Annual
Meeting, a luncheon was scheduled for noon on January 12 at The Night Deposit
restaurant in Salem and all of the board members were invited to attend.

Administrative Services Manager, Jack Belleque said
the unclaimed capital credits for 1972 were due to be forfeited to the
cooperative and that the names and amounts had been properly published and
remain unclaimed. Motion was made by Anderson, seconded by Culver and carried
unanimously to approve Resolution 12-16-97 to forfeit to the cooperative all
unclaimed capital retains for the year 1972.
Meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
