Keep Transformers Clear

O
ur crews need adequate clearance to work safely on transformers that are located on the ground. If you have one of these big green boxes in your yard, please provide 2’ of clearance on the sides and back, and 10’ in front to allow our crews to work safely and efficiently.

In the last year I have had the opportunity to be involved with a program put on by the Chamber of Commerce called Leadership Youth. As a senior at South Salem High School, five other students and I were chosen to represent our school and the youth community. By doing so, we were deeply committed to Leadership Youth and spent one full day a month exploring the business world. We toured businesses, listened to volunteer speakers and, in the end, did a community service project.
Leadership Youth is a two-year long program: the first being primarily what I described above, and the second year getting to serve on a business board. Having finished my first year with a whirlwind, I am now happy to say that I will be serving on the Salem Electric board. At the end of the year we will be graduating from the Leadership Youth Program at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce.
While serving Salem Electric I will be attending the monthly board meeting, scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of the month, and plan to play an active role in the discussions. I hope to gain a lot of practical and useful information, as well as insight to the business world.
My Salem Electric contact is Member Services Manager, Terry Kelly, and my board mentor is Vice- President, Alicia Bonesteele. They both have been incredibly helpful in getting me situated and educated in the history of Salem Electric. I am looking forward to a great year and a wonderful experience in my last year of Leadership Youth.
