Let your leftovers cool slightly before putting them in the refrigerator or freezer. Cover pans when cooking. Use the microwave whenever possible. Adjust your refrigerator temperature to 36° - 40° and your freezer to 0°. Keep refrigerator and freezer coils clean. Refrigerators and freezers operate most economically when filled to capacity - avoid interfering with the air circulation. Refrigerators with bottom-mount freezers use less energy than top-mount freezers.
