Coming Soon: Capital Credit Allocation Letters

Each year, capital credits are allocated to Salem Electric members based on the amount of energy they purchased the previous year. Capital credits are used for the operation of the co-op including new construction, plant replacements, debt reduction, and other capital purposes. 

Allocated credits have no monetary value until the Salem Electric Board of Directors take action to retire the credits and refund them to members. Currently, capital credits are retired by seniority after being used for the operation of the co-op for approximately twenty years. 

Allocation letters will be mailed to members in May. If the name and address on your letter is correct, no action is needed. To update your information please contact us at 503-362-3601 or se@SalemElectric.com.
