Alicia Bonesteele Retires From the Board
It has been my sincere pleasure to serve on the Salem Electric Board alongside Alicia Bonesteele for the past 33 years. As Salem Electric’s first female board member, Alicia has distinguished herself as a judicious steward of the organization and performed her role with tenacity, professionalism, and dedication.
In 2009, Alicia’s leadership and commitment to Oregon cooperatives landed her a seat on the board of the Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association (ORECA) where she advocated for reliable service, affordable rates, and local control. “Alicia took her role as a board member seriously. She is studious, thoughtful, and an inspiration for all of us,” said Ted Case, executive director of ORECA.
Alicia will not seek re-election to the Salem Electric Board, attending her last meeting as a director on May 5, at our annual meeting. On behalf of the Salem Electric Board, I would like to extend our most sincere thanks and gratitude to Alicia for her friendship, service, and commitment to Salem Electric these past 33 years. She is an inspiration to us and I have no doubt she’ll remain an active, informed, and supportive member of the co-op.
