The board voted to move the March 2021 and December 2021 board meetings to earlier in the month to avoid conflicts with spring break and the Christmas holiday.
2020 Year-End Report Highlights
- Adapting to change was an everyday reality in 2020. To comply with Oregon’s guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic, 25 remote workstations were deployed to employees who logged 12,638 remote work hours. The lobby was closed to the public, and employees implemented processes and procedures to meet members’ needs. A Salem Electric COVID-19 Assistance Program was created to provide assistance to members impacted by the pandemic, providing over $69,000 to 412 members.
- Members took advantage of the automated phone payment line which averaged over 1,300 calls per month from a previous average of 150 calls per month, and both SmartHub users and the number of members registered for paperless billing statements increased.
- Utility billing revenue was down for the year because of the decrease in use from general service accounts (businesses) impacted by COVID-19. Total expenses, power costs, and operating expenses were all under budget.
- There were 42 sustained interruptions in 2020 with an average outage time per member of 12.51 minutes, primarily from trees falling on lines.
