Emergencies are unpredictable and can happen at any time. The unknowns can be scary, but you can reduce that fear by planning ahead, especially for the vulnerable members of your household.
Know Your Risk: Pacific Northwest weather can bring snow, ice, high winds, extreme heat, and wildfires. These severe weather events can disrupt power and essential services for days.
Make a Plan: Develop a family emergency plan for evacuations, outages, and sheltering in place. Include:
- An out-of- state contact
- Emergency phone numbers
- A safe family meeting place
Build an Emergency Kit: Keep enough supplies for at least 72 hours, including:
- Food
- Water
- A battery-powered communication source
- Supplies for children, seniors, and pets
