Did you know Salem Electric is one of more than 900 electric co-ops serving over 42 million Americans? Electric cooperatives are part of a larger network of member-owned businesses that provide services ranging from banking and healthcare to agriculture and housing.
What makes cooperatives different? We’re locally owned and governed by those we serve. Instead of generating profits
for outside investors, we focus on providing affordable, reliable electricity and investing in our community. Our rates remain lower than those of Oregon’s investor-owned utilities, and when revenues exceed expenses, margins are returned to members through capital credits.
As a member, you are at the center of everything we do. Your voice and involvement helps guide the cooperative’s future. Together, we’re building a stronger cooperative and a stronger community.
